“Georgia Christmas,” sung and produced by recording artist Diane Durrett, is a blend of joyful soul-stirring holiday originals and classics. The title track was inspired by Durrett’s experience of growing up in Atlanta and singing at the annual Lighting of the Tree at age eleven. “You can hear my soulful Georgia roots in the singing and musical arrangements,” Durrett says. The classic song “White Christmas” exhibits just that as the trio of keyboardist Eric Frampton (Paul Simon), drummer Yonrico Scott (Royal Southern Brotherhood), and bassist Ted Pecchio (Tedeschi Trucks Band) lay the foundation for Durrett’s sultry voice and Kofi Burbridge’s (Tedeschi Trucks Band) artful flute solo.
The Motown feel of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” has listeners singing along with Durrett while Jeff Robinson, Caroline Aiken and Donna Hopkins lend their voices on background. “Joy to the World” brings two Georgia blue-eyed soul singers voice to voice as Jimmy Hall (Wet Willie) and Durrett give a rousing gospel performance with the help of Ike Stubblefield on Hammond B3 organ. On the holiday classic, “O Holy Night, ” singer- songwriter Gareth Asher joins Durrett. Their passionate voices come together to raising holiday spirits on this beautiful duet. Blues influenced, “Please Come Home For Christmas,” picks the tempo back up as Markham White shines on guitar. Durrett’s vintage vocal sound brings it on home. “Jingle Bells” is off the hook as Durrett and the trio let loose on this children’s favorite .
Durrett’s original song “Rudolph Shines” co-written and sung with Ralph Roddenberry grooves into new territory blending a fresh holiday story with savvy production. Joining in on background vocals are Samantha and Richie Jones. Adding just the right spice on percussion is Melissa “Junebug” Massey. “Silent Night” with classical guitarist, Nate Bennett is a reflective way to complete Durrett’s inspirational and fun CD.“Georgia Christmas” is a great addition to everyone’s holiday music collection!

As a result, this CD has a familiar, easy going feel that will definately put you in the holiday spirit. Enjoy!” — Hittin’ The Note
