Durrett's new CD Blame it on my DNA, recorded and mixed at Tree Sound Studios and four songs tracked at After Dark Designs, gives listeners another reason to celebrate her insightful and sometimes humorous soulful music. Producer Ike Stubblefield brings a groovy twist to Durrett’s songs. From the bluesy title track, "Blame it on my DNA" to the funky “Cook it up” to the sexy R&B "In Between Times." Blame it on my DNA will take you from laughing and dancing to loving.

Durrett’s CD includes guest star appearances by drummer Bernard Purdie (Chain, Chain, Chain), jazz trumpeter Joey Somerville, the late Donnie McCormick (Chicken Coop) and guitarists Oliver Wood (The Wood Brothers) and Mark Johnson (Delta Moon). Her co-writters include Nashville’s Jimbeau Hinson (Hillbilly Highway), King Mojo recording artist Liz Melendez (Mercy) and former STAX records William Bell (Born Under A Bad Sign). Bell’s classic soul music influence rings true on “Better Off Than On.”

The heart of the album is Durrett's smoldering voice, which has developed into one of the most distinctive instruments in the Southeast. She thinks she has the album she's always wanted to record. "It turned out to be a blend of singer/songwriter and old-school R&B", she says. "It's a really nice combination." - Creative Loafing, Atlanta
